PCW NEWS
HI SRAS community,
Last week I was privileged to be able to attend the year 3-6 camp at Burra. It was a very enjoyable, educational and organised camp where we had some fun times as well. I congratulate the teachers and staff on a well run and organised 3 days.
Last newsletter, I gave you a snippet of the information that is in a new brochure from my employer, SMG (Schools Ministry Group), about PCWs (Pastoral Care Workers) in South Australian schools. Here is my third snippet –
SMG in the school community
250 + pastoral care workers currently work in 354 SA Government schools across all areas of South Australia.
70% of pastoral care interactions result in ongoing pastoral support.
812 meetings occur each week with school-based support professionals including guidance officers, counsellors, special needs co-ordinators and others.
6431 pastoral care conversations occur with students each week across South Australia.
2354 informal pastoral care conversations occur with parents and staff each week.
Have a great week
Warm Regards,
Mrs Julie Maxwell, PCW
