On Tuesday, 23^rd March, seven secondary students from SRAS competed at the USE Athletics Day at Karoonda Town Oval. Congratulations to Olivia Hayford, Lochlan Hodge, Naomi Cameron, Jasmine Challenor, Ella Johnson, Jacob Hodge and Amillia Carver for representing our school in this competition. As SRAS is combined with Meningie Area School for this event, our competing students had to not only win their events from our Athletics Day, but they also had to out throw/jump/run the best competing students from Meningie. As we continue to develop our strong sporting culture at SRAS, these students were given a great opportunity to represent our school and gain valuable experience competing against the highest performing athletes from a range of schools in our district, including: Karoonda, Tintinara, Mannum, Coomandook, Keith and Lameroo. In total, our selected students competed in approximately 25 events throughout the day. Our students displayed exceptional sportsmanship and even leant a helping hand to marshals at several events – well done! We will await the results of this event to see if any students are selected to represent the USE zone at SSSSA in Adelaide. Thank you to Mr Troy Cowland for assisting on the day.
