PRINCIPAL'S REPORT
Hello Swan Reach,
It is pleasing to see SRAS students participate in Remembrance Day Ceremonies. Staff and students joined in with the community ceremony led by the Swan Reach sub-branch of the RSL. Our vision states that “SRAS will develop students… who are collaborative contributors to their community,” this recent participation demonstrates their contribution through joining in honouring all service personnel who have given to our nation.
2021 HOME GROUPS
SRAS has decided upon the home groups detailed below:
- Preschool in ELC
- Reception – year 2 class
- Year 3 – 6 class
- Year 7-10 for HG and electives only (7/8s and 9/10s will have separate classes for core learning subjects)
- Year 11/12
We are working through final subject selections and facilitation that will impact teacher loads and hope to communicate as much 2021 staffing as possible before the term ends. Our mantra throughout this complex process is “what is the best model we are able to facilitate for our students?”
While we are hoping to retain as many current staff as possible to enhance the continuity of learning for all students, we are able to announce the following:
- Mr Tun is transferring to a metropolitan site in 2021
- Mrs Sarah Bolt is taking long service leave for term 1 & 2
NAIDOC WEEK
Being NAIDOC week, it is fitting that our youngest learners were able to experience the artefacts from Ngaut Ngaut on Tuesday this week. Ngaut Ngaut is a wonderful gem at our front door. Tour guides and family members of our school community, Sam and Ivy Stewart are wonderful in the way they share their deep connections to this land and their Nungaraku history and culture. This experience is an authentic journey into our heritage and a must tour for all locals. SRAS will definitely place Ngaut Ngaut and other local gems, like Yookumarra Sanctuary on our excursion agendas for 2021 and beyond.
STUDENT FREE DAY (SFD)
A general reminder that SRAS has a student free day, on Friday 20th November, that will be used for intensive 2021, site improvement reviewing and 2021 site improvement planning.
END OF YEAR SCHOOL FUNCTION
All end of year school functions such as presentation night, preschool Xmas party, year 6 graduation, etc needs to comply with DfE COVID-19 protocols. For indoor events, numbers are capped by the size of the venue. Therefore, where possible we will host events outdoors to maximise attendance and minimise COVID-19 risks. We thank you for your support with these necessities, for example:
- Preschool – Year 1 Christmas party attendees will need to RSVP as the ELC has capacity for 30 adults only. If we have more RSVP for this event, hopefully, the weather will permit an outdoors gathering. If the weather isn’t favourable then we’ll use the gym.
- All attending these functions will need to fill out the DfE site entry form for tracing purposes
- Hand Sanitizer will be available at these functions and social distancing measures continue to apply
- Food CANNOT be shared – families to provide food for family members only – picnic style
