This week, Our Y3-6 class and Y7/8 class had an online meeting with a school in Japan. As part of Japanese learning, I have registered our school to the Australian Olympic Connect | ともだち 2021 Program. The program is based around the Olympics and promotes the values of friendship, respect and excellence. The program has ともだち(Tomodachi) in its title, which signifies the importance of friendship and relationship building between our two countries through our youth. We are connected with Hokubu Primary School, which is located in Urayasu City, Chiba Prefecture, and we are communicating with two Year 6 classes of their school. We are one of approximately 300 classes across Australia and Japan registered to participate in this program. During the online meeting, students exchanged introductions and asked questions about our respective countries. I am sure that this connection will be a positive experience for our students.
