PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
PRINCIPALS REPORT
Hello Swan Reach,
It is incredible to know that we are half way through the term already. Nearly all students are back at school and have returned to face-to-face teaching routines that are the best for learning and teaching. Whilst South Australia is experiencing lifts to restrictions, SRAS remains under COVID-19 restrictions for non-essential workers and visitors, including parents and carers. We thank you for adhering to this advice by SA Health until further notice. The Department and SA Health classify schools and preschools as ‘controlled’ environments and have provided them with extra cleaning to support ongoing safe hygiene practices such as regular handwashing and use of sanitiser. Importantly, the state has progressed well to have restrictions easing faster than projected. Well done to our community for doing our bit – thank you.
COVID-19
The following extract is the latest advice from the Department for Education
Dear Parents / Carers
It has been pleasing to welcome most of our students back to school. Across our state approximately 90% of our students are now at school.
Our Department for Education now expects all public school students who are well and not considered vulnerable to COVID-19 to attend school or preschool.
Students are required to attend school unless they are:
Feeling unwell
- Have a chronic medical condition or compromised immune system and are not able to attend school on advice from their medical practitioner
- Live in a household with others that are deemed vulnerable to COVID-19 and are not able to attend school on advice of their medical practitioner
- Have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or have been required to self-isolate by SA Health
If your child is in one of these categories and is unable to attend school at this stage, please contact the school on 85702053 so that we can negotiate how to best support their learning.
ICT
It is pleasing to report that the department has upgraded SRAS’ ICT capabilities. We are now connected to the new fibre optics cabling, meaning our internet connections are faster and more reliable. We have upgraded our wireless connectivity and also have new technology that connects our computers to our SMART boards from anywhere in the classroom. Staff recently received new laptops and students will benefit from accessing their older ones. Thank you to Mrs Leanne Griffiths for all her time and commitment to assist this successful and necessary process. Our ICT infrastructure is set to serve us for the foreseeable future.
