PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Hello Swan Reach,
SRAS has planned two whole-school transition sessions that are outlined below:
Wednesday 13th November – lessons 1 and 2 (9:05am -10:45am)
Wednesday 27th November – lessons 3 and 4 (11:05am – 12:45pm)
You are invited to attend Principal’s Tours that will be conducted at the same time. This is an opportunity for families to visit learning spaces, view teaching and learning and ask clarifying questions about education at SRAS. We look forward to seeing you and sharing morning tea on Wednesday 13th November that will be hosted by our Pastoral Care Worker, Mrs Julie Maxwell.
MOVIE NIGHT @ SRAS
What an excellent community event! Thank you to the families who supported this initiative. Approximately 80 attended across the two screenings. Congratulations to Mrs Kristy Castle on organising this fun family occasion. Many thanks to the Progress Association, for their popular doughnut and popcorn sales. Thanks also to the Ridley Lions Club for cooking the BBQ. A number of staff volunteered to assist in setting up and stayed on for the movies – thank you for your support, particularly with pack up along with the year 8-11s. We thank the Swan Reach Hotel for supplying the door prize, a family voucher for $150 won by the Gribble family. We are grateful for the support given by Mid Murray Family Connections and AC Care Murray Bridge in making this event possible.
FIRE EMERGENCY
SRAS extends its gratitude to the caring and committed families who responded without hesitation to the fire emergency last Thursday. The Purnong Bus afternoon run was cancelled and every child was picked up or delivered safely home. It is amazing how an emergency propels us to work harmoniously and raises our sense of community pride. SRAS acknowledges the efforts of the unsung community heroes who gave their energy and time to ensure everyone’s safety – in particular the CFS volunteers and SAPOL. Our heart goes out to those families who suffered loss during this fire.
BUSHFIRE PROCEDURES ON CATASTROPHIC DAYS
On days where a Catastrophic Fire Danger rating is forecasted:
- all school bus routes travelling through any affected Fire Ban District(s) will be cancelled
- school will still be open and lessons will run as normal
If the Fire Ban rating changes to ‘Catastrophic’ during the day:
- school buses will operate as normal, unless advised otherwise by authorised Emergency Services personnel.
If a bushfire is reported in the area during the day:
- affected bus runs will not to leave the school until the roads are declared safe by emergency services authorities
Parents will be notified and students will be supervised at school, until buses can run, or until parents are able to collect their children.
2020 HOME GROUPS
SRAS has decided upon the home groups:
- Kindergarten / Reception (K/R)
- Year 1-3
- Year 4-6
- Year 7-10 for HG and electives only (7/8s and 9/10s will have separate classes for core learning subjects)
- Year 11/12
STUDENT FREE DAY (SFD)
Governing Council has approved a student free day on Friday 22nd November. This will be used for intensive 2020 planning.
