PRINCIPALS REPORT
Hello Swan Reach,
Hoping the rain fell in the right places for all in need and that there will be follow-up moisture sooner than later. SRAS understands through its long history with community and more recently, in partnership with MMOT, how resilience is a massive requirement for living in our region. Those on the land understand this all too well and know that changing seasons and mother nature often shapes our successes, challenges, grit and determination.
MMOT research showed that many of us identified that meaningful connections opportunities in the area were decreasing, yet vital for positive mental health. Our young (and mature), are at risk, as opportunities for face-to-face authentic community connections decrease, meaning there is an increased trend to invest in and rely on social media for this social need. Is a Facebook ‘friend’ as real as a traditional friend? How many Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tik Tok, Snap Chap, etc ‘friends’ ever visit one another’s homes and share a meal?
With adults ‘busyness’ taking more time away from family, as well as pressures and expectations for 21st Century parenting / caring, how can we keep our families and communities authentically connected? The Resilience Project has some great insights into this topic in their upcoming live webinar ‘Authentic Connections’. SRAS will send out a link to the video recording for those who weren’t able to register in time or make it to the webinar on 6th June @ 6:30pm.
Kind regards,
Mr John Robertson

Mrs E’s Japanese Corner
In Year 5/6 class, we have continued the unit “Weather”. Students had been learning some weather words and how to mention what the temperature is for places.
Students are now at the last and the biggest assessment where they become the weather reporter and report the weather/ temperature of the three cities in Japan in Japanese.
They have started this task by writing their scripts and the storyboards. Then they will need to record the scenes in front of the green screen. Students will edit their video clip by adding the background of the different locations that they have chosen.
I am hoping to share their work through to families on Daymap.
