As another busy term closes, there are 3 major stakeholders SRAS needs to continue thanking. Firstly, the staff for their firm commitment to making a positive difference for children and students. Secondly, to parents and carers, who continue to trust and support SRAS with your most precious resources – your children. Thirdly and of most significance are the children and young people whom are the very reason SRAS exists.
Hoping you are able to join us at assembly this Friday, 29th September, at 1:45pm, to celebrate the children’s and school’s achievements, before an early dismissal at 2:10pm and buses departing at 2:15pm.
Wishing all involved with the schooling community a safe and blessed holiday break. Hoping it is one where the family might find time to apply gratitude, mindfulness and empathy within the home and communities that you are part of. Looking forward to a productive and exciting return to term 4, to continue collaborations within our schooling community.

THE RESILIENCE PROJECT (TRP)
Part 4: Mindfulness
Today’s presentation from The Resilience Project is all about Mindfulness.
Mindfulness is our ability to be present at any given moment. We practise this by using intentional awareness and concentrating on what you are doing when you are doing it.
Thousands of studies into Mindfulness indicate that with regular practise, Mindfulness can lead to benefits such as; reduced stress, reduced rumination, increased memory, increased cognitive function and physical health benefits through improved immunity.

Mindfulness can be practised through meditation, yoga, flow-states and daily activities such as cooking.

THE RESILIENCE PROJECT - IN THE CLASSROOM
The Resilience Project – in the R-2 classroom
The Resilience Project is a program that helps us to learn about gratitude, empathy, and mindfulness. These are key skills that can help us to stay positive and keep trying, even when things are difficult.
This week in R-2, we have been talking about superheroes and their purpose in the world. We learned that superheroes use their superpowers to help people, and we discussed how we can help those in the world around us in our daily lives.
We also spoke about our favourite superheroes and the characteristics which they possess. Then, we designed our own superheroes and invented our own super helpful superpowers.
Here are some of the super helpful superpowers that the R-2 students came up with:
- The power to make everyone happy
- The power to heal people
- The power to fly and save people
- The power to read minds and help people solve their problems
These are just a few examples of the many ways that we can use our own superpowers to help others. Even if we don't have superpowers like superheroes in comic books, we can all do small things to make a difference in the world.
Even small acts of kindness can make a big difference in someone's life. So go out there and use your superpowers to make the world a better place!

EARLY LEARNING CENTRE - PIZZA NIGHT
On the Thursday after Father’s Day, the Preschool children enjoyed a pizza night with ‘the special men in their lives’. During the day all children were involved in preparing the ingredients for the pizzas and were excited to welcome their special guys into the ELC that night. As well as making their pizzas together, the children and their guys had photos taken in the photo booth, played outside before it got dark, role-played in our ‘library’ corner, and showed their favourite things to do at kindy. Thankyou to everyone who was able to come, you are all welcome back any time.

The 24 Hour Pedal Prix demonstrated itself as a thrilling and valuable experience for the team. Under Mr. Carter's guidance, everyone worked together to ensure the bike and riders were on the track throughout the event. I want to extend my thanks to Mrs Harmer, Ms Doyle (and husband Daryl, for capturing photos), Mr & Mrs McKenzie, Mr Jarvis, Mr McGrath, Mr Fawdry, Mr and Mrs Hodge and, of course, Mr. Carter for giving up their time to support and help the students in my absence. Your contributions are greatly valued because without them, the students would not have had this opportunity. Once again, thank you for your commitment and dedication to our students and their growth.

On Monday 18th September, Ahna, Charlee, Sebastian and Wesley participated in the Barossa and Light Hiragana Competition. This competition is held in one of the Barossa schools every year, challenging students to compete their knowledge of Hiragana symbols. This year 8 other schools from Barossa and Light participated in the competition. Ahna, Charlee, Sebastian and Wesley competed very well and got to see other students learning Japanese from the region. Well done Ahna, Charlee, Sebastian and Wesley.
