Dear families,
The Discovering Resilience Webinar for Parents and Carers with Martin Heppell on Wednesday 14th June, 7.00pm-8.00pm (60 minutes) AEST is being postponed until term 3 or 4. The reason for this is that SRAS, in partnership with Mid Murray Our Town (MMOT), already have a live webinar with The Resilience Project presenter, Martin Heppel, on the 16th June @ 6:30pm in the gymnasium. There will be a free BBQ sizzle prior to this live event screening @ 5:30pm, available at the gymnasium.
The presentation will cater for all ages and all community members and is in response to the impact of the floods on mental health. SRAS and MMOT are looking forward to hosting this community event, made possible by funding received from MMOT to assist flood recovery for the wider community.

We are thrilled to announce Karl's Push Up Challenge has started!
Karl launched this initiative with great enthusiasm during our recent mid-term assembly.
Karl's passionate speech inspired everyone to participate in the Push Up Challenge. Now, he invites you all to join him during recess. The challenge is open to everyone, regardless of fitness level.
Here's how it works: Karl will lead push-up exercises at the outdoor learning area. The challenge aims to promote mental health and provide suicide awareness to our community by completing a total of 3,144 push-ups, representing the number of people who died by suicide in Australia in 2021.
Join Karl's Push Up Challenge, have fun, and set a positive example. Participation is voluntary but highly encouraged. Let's support Karl in his mission.

MR & MRS GRIFFITHS - TIV CHECK IN
Tour in Van - Since our last check in we have been to Litchfield Park visiting Florence springs, then Darwin, Humpty Do and Bark Hut. We did a Yellow River sunset tour at Kakadu and saw a few crocodiles. We stayed at Nitmilik Park and took a Helicopter flight over Katherine Gorge which was great. Lake Argyle was really nice with the Infinity pool and the Ord River Scheme is amazing. From there we have visited Kununurra, Derby, Birdwood Downs station, Broome, 80 mile beach, Port Hedland, Roebourne, Point Samson, Dampier, Exmouth, Carnarvon, Denham and Monkey Mia. We stayed at Kalbarri and the weather changed dramatically very cold, wet and windy! Went out to the national park and checked out the Skywalk, Window View and Z~Bend.
Amazing rock formations and gorges. It’s very hard to fathom the enormity of the mining industry particularly in Western Australia and the impact of World War II around many of the northern and north western towns of Australia.

Mid Murray Our Town & SRAS are committed to the ongoing development of our community's wellbeing through programs that make a difference. We want you to be the best you can be, both at work, school and in your home environment.
As part of our 2023 wellbeing program, we have embraced The Resilience Project.
The Resilience Project explores evidence-based approaches to building resilience, in order to develop and sustain positive mental health.
Their highly engaging presentation outlines The Resilience Project strategies, Gratitude, Empathy (kindness) and Mindfulness and discusses simple ways you can practice these in your daily life.
The session will be presented by Martin Heppell, a renowned and inspiring speaker.
Resilience is the ability to bounce back from adversity. It is a necessary skill for coping with life’s inevitable obstacles and one of the key ingredients to success.
Having resilience minimizes the effect that negative, stressful situations can have on us. These skills allow us to face challenges, learn from them and apply these skills so we can live a healthy life.
We have embraced The Resilience Project so we can all learn how to be mentally and spiritually healthy.
