When reflecting on this term at SRAS, our values have shone through with the collaborative actions of our school and community members. We’ve worked hard and have succeeded on many endeavours to make SRAS the best it can be. We will always seek to improve outcomes for our students and families. The vast volume of communication, verbal, written and text messages, are testaments to this, along with the well-attended sports carnivals and 3-Way Conversations. SRAS looks forward to releasing TRP (The Resilience Project) for families next term along with introducing it to our pre-schoolers too.
It’s highly pleasing to see and hear the resilience of P&F, and we highly appreciate their commitment to SRAS, with a number taking annual leave to support the upcoming interschool sports day – thank you. As we head toward the holiday and Easter break, it will serve as an opportunity for staff, families and students to rest and recharge for term 2. Thanks all for your participation, integrity and care to ensure the best possible outcomes for all learners. Have a wonderful and blessed break.
Kind Regards
John Robertson
Principal
STAFFING CHANGE
Mr Greg and Mrs Leanne Griffiths will be taking well-deserved long service leave next term. We wish them the very best in their adventure around this wonderful country of ours. Mr Peter Jarvis will take on the versatility of subjects that Mr Griffiths facilitates and our SSO team will take turns to cover the library component of Mrs Griffith’s role. Mr Stephen Temby will assist, when possible, with ongoing ICT support.
TRAFFIC LIGHTS, TICK BOXES & PORTFOLIOS
With end of term approaching, SRAS would like to inform families that we will not be sending home portfolio folders this year. Instead a family envelope containing all student's tick box reports and traffic lights will be sent out in week 11.
TRP (The Resilience Project) Snapshot – GRATTITUDE
Working on gratitude helps us to be thankful and appreciate what we have in our lives, rather than focusing on what we don’t have or what we want. When we practise being grateful, we start to scan the world to look for positives–this only takes 21 days! Practising gratitude every day increases our levels of energy, helps us to feel happier and more focused, determined and optimistic. It even helps us have a better sleep, lowers levels of anxiety and depression and we are less likely to get sick. So many benefits–let’s all try to be grateful for the things and people in our lives every day!
Whole Family Activity: Gratitude Scavenger Hunt
As a family create a scavenger hunt list of things that make you happy or you are grateful for, you can make your own list or use the examples below:
- Something that makes you happy
- Something you love to smell
- Something you enjoy looking at
- Something that is your favourite colour
- Something you like in nature
- Something that is useful for you
Each member of the family uses the list, and has to find as many things as they can. You can hunt for things inside or outside, or both. You can hunt for real things, or you can also do this using magazines or pictures from the internet.
After a set amount of time hunting, come back together, have a look at what each person collected and let them explain why they are grateful for each item.
Family Habit Builder:
Every night at dinner, have each person talk about their favourite thing about that day

SSSSA Athletics
Last Friday, 31st of March, SRAS had 3 secondary students compete at SANTOS stadium in Adelaide for the River Mallee & Districts (RMD) Athletics team. Congratulations to Jasmine Challenor, Jacob Hodge and Tehya Fawdry for your selection and participation in this event. The RMD team finished 3rd overall for the day (out of 8 competing zones), which is our best result for a number of years. Jacob finished a respectable 4th in his shot put event, whilst Tehya and Jazzy competed well in their high jump and 100m sprints respectively. Tehya finished the day with a clear highlight, coming 1st in her 4 x 100m relay, whilst Jazzy came in 3rd for her 4 x 100m relay. Awesome job to all three on your positive representation of SRAS and our RMD zone. Finally, a big thank you to Renae Hodge for transporting these students to the event and to Neil Fawdry for transporting both Tehya and Jazzy back.
Wishing our primary students a highly successful event at their interschool athletics day next Wednesday against Cambrai.
Cheers
Jayden Coleman
Sports Coordinator

I want to share with you a fitness challenge that has a deeper meaning and a collective goal. As you may know, 3,144 Australians lost their lives to suicide in 2021. To honour their memory and raise awareness for mental health, I'm inviting you to join me in the 3,144 push-up challenge.
But I don't want to do it alone! I want to get a group of students together to collectively get 3,144 push-ups in 23 days, which equals 137 push-ups per day. Students that are interested can let me know, and we'll form a team to support each other along the way.
We'll be meeting at the outdoor learning area every recess during the month of June to complete our daily push-up goal. Don't worry if you can't do push-ups, as they can be replaced with activities like star jumps, sit-ups, cartwheels, etc. The important thing is that we're all working together towards a common goal.
I encourage you to join me in this challenge and make a difference in our own lives and in the lives of others. We can use this challenge to start conversations about mental health, raise awareness, and support those who may be going through a tough time. Together, we can achieve the goal of 3,144 push-ups and show our solidarity with those affected by suicide.
If you're interested in joining the challenge, let me know. Let's make June a month of physical and mental health, and honour the lives lost to suicide in the process.
