PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Hello Swan Reach,
Congratulations to our student leaders for 2022. We previously announced our school captains and proxies and now we’d like to share our house captains and SRC leaders.
- House captains for Eagles are; Kai, Harley, Lina and Iesha
for Kangaroos are; Cora, Jazzy, Ryan and Jacob
- SRC team: President – Cora, Vice president – Sebastian, Naomi, Harley, Kai, Jazzy, Ella, Maliyah and Lily
SRAS will hold the leader’s induction ceremony before the athletics carnival next Friday, 18th March. We look forward to having families join us for the induction and athletics, as both will be conducted outdoors with appropriate COVID-19 measures in place.
Unfortunately, but predictably, positive COVID-19 cases at SRAS have occurred this week. The COVID-19 protocols directed for schools by SA Health differs from the community ones. The infographic included with this newsletter summarises the directions schools need to adhere to when positive cases emerge WITHIN SCHOOL.
SRAS thanks all families for keeping children at home if presenting with symptoms, even mild ones, and appreciates your care and positive responses to news regarding cases at SRAS.
NOTE WELL: SA HEALTH and Department direction is that schools are not expected to provide learning for children whose families are choosing to keep them at home because of COVID. SRAS respects families’ choice to do so. Secondary students are able to keep up with most classroom learning via DayMap. Primary students have some access via SeeSaw and TEAMS.
Families are encouraged to access excellent learning lessons for R-10 students from the departments’ ‘OUR LEARNING SA’ website at https://www.education.sa.gov.au/our-learning-sa

The SRAS Athletics day is just over one week away! I look forward to seeing everyone out to support and or participate next Friday, 18th March. The long-term weather forecast suggests that we are set for a sensational day. Once again, I’d like to recognise just how lucky we are to have Mr Phil Carter, as our groundsman. He has spent countless hours and days preparing the oval, creating an absolute treat for us to enjoy next Friday. Thank you so much Phil. Parents, carers, family members, please come and join in the excitement and cheer on your child/ren. Better yet, if you would personally like to volunteer as an official marshal, please contact the school to let me know of your interest. Our students have been hard at practice throughout this week, eager for the real deal to begin next Friday. Our pre-carnival events kick off next Wednesday morning, 16th March, with the combined 3000m/l000m event. The Javelin event will follow for our senior students on Thursday morning, 17th March. I am pleased to announce that the Bungee Run will return again this year. Calling on any challengers out there amongst our parents for a staff vs parents battle…??? Lastly, I kindly thank the efforts of our amazing Parents and Friends team for catering lunches for this event. Please refer to their report in the Newsletter for more details. Students are set to nominate for their events tomorrow morning and an official program will be sent home with your child/ren early next week. Sports Day promises to be a great day of fun, participation and competition!! Bring on next Friday.
Go Murray Eagles and Mallee Kangaroos!
