PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Hello Swan Reach,
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support at Presentation Night; Parents, Carers, grandparents, older siblings and community members, the Leadership team, the teaching teams – ELC, Primary and Secondary, support staff team – classroom, office and library, bus driving team, lunch orders team, local businesses teams. Thank you.
We hope you all have a very Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year and enjoy the holidays, and finally to all the Parents and Carers out there, enjoy the time with your children, and come Friday … tag… you’re it for 6 weeks!
FAREWELL
To the students who depart our shores, we wish you the very best in your new settings. SRAS is proud to have helped you establish a firm foundation, to successfully continue your learning pursuits… And if it doesn’t work out, we’ll be here.
To our Year 12s, and all students, go forth and make your change to the world. Nothing is beyond your reach. If you want it badly enough…do it, pursue it and don’t look back. Chase your dreams. Have the courage to take the risk and anything is possible. Winston Churchill once said, ‘Success is never final. Failure is never fatal. It is courage that counts.’ Be courageous.
We have retained all staff from 2021 with the exception of Miss Rohie Griffiths who is taking a ‘gap’ year. Miss G’s time with us seems far too short and although it has been 4 years it just seems like yesterday that she joined the team. Thanks for all your innovations, precious TIME and dedication – you’ve been like a rewarding and ongoing ‘breath of fresh air’ . Thanks Rohie and we wish you the very best.
Mr John Robertson
Principal

What a great night for Swan Reach Area School to showcase our learning and achievements. Congratulations to all students who received awards on the night.
The Swan Reach Area School Early Learning Centre would like to say a huge thankyou to MRS SUE NEATE for sewing our beautiful aboriginal print cushion covers for us! They look perfect on our reading corner couch. “THANKYOU SUE!”
On Friday, 3rd of December, Reception to Year 7 students participated the Splash Dash at the Cambrai Pool. This event was organised by the Cambrai Primary School. It took a while for students to get used to the depth of the pool, but after that, they all had a great time! Thanks to Cambrai Primary School community and SRAS staff and carers who attended the day. Special mention to Tyler who was our photographer throughout the day.

What a great week of activities the Year 10, 11 and 12 students experienced during the Self Esteem Course for 2021. The course began on Monday, 29th November with Peter Brown putting students through their paces to gain their qualification in Senior First Aid. On Tuesday, the students travelled to Adelaide to explore the West Beach Adventure Park in the morning and navigate around the city as part of the Amazing Race in the afternoon. On Wednesday, 1st December students were based at the school and prepared lunch with 'Master Chef' Mr Griffiths. They also had a session on team challenges as they stepped out of their comfort zone, this included making phone calls and figuring out ways to deal with awkward moments. In the afternoon, Tony Duggan and Amy Brooks-Virve from the University of Adelaide presented information on future study pathways and jobs of the future. On Friday, Damion Linke conducted a session on Self Defence in the gym. This activity gives students strategies and tactics to help them protect themselves and possibly save their lives. On Friday evening the students presented their experiences to family and friends at the Nildottie Hall. I take this opportunity to congratulate all students on their participation.
