PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Hello Swan Reach,
It was a privilege to be invited to share with the Christian Women’s Association (CWA), Riverland Zone, this week at the Swan Reach Town Hall. The theme for their day was ‘YOU’RE WELCOME’ and it resonated strongly with much of my life blessings and circumstances, and especially as an adopted child from Vietnam. Being welcomed into Australia and a loving family was not the beginning of my journey with being openly welcomed. In 2019, I shared how I was welcomed by dedicated nuns who received me warmly as a baby into their care amid a raging war and nurtured me.
During leave, in 2019, I re-visited my birth country, after 45 years, and spent time with the elderly nuns who remembered me fondly. They were so excited and pleased to re-welcome me – their genuine warmth and love was as if I’d never left! In fact, they refer to themselves as my mummas (mothers). They welcomed and took care of over 100 inter-racial children during the Vietnam War, and have continued to do so ever since.
Swan Reach is a welcoming community and SRAS is no exception. Our philosophy with new enrolments is that we enrol the family – welcoming parents and carers, and their child. Staff have commented on how it feels like family at SRAS.
WELCOME
SRAS warmly welcomes Cody-Lie, who joins our year 7/8 class and her family.

STAGE 1 & 2 SUBJECT SELECTIONS 2022
Year 10 and 11 students are currently involved in the process of making subject selections for their program of study for SACE Stage 1 & 2 in 2022. We invite you to be actively involved in this process with your son/daughter in the following ways:
- Engage in rich discussions with them about their aspirations and possible plans for their future
- Help them decide what they enjoy doing and what they’re good at to identify potentially suitable career path options
- Discuss their study strengths and areas for improvement as they have demonstrated during their time at school
- Help them find information and advice that support meaningful decisions about study for next year and beyond
- Talk with them about the information and ideas they considered in their Personal Learning Plan.
Final subject selections must be formally endorsed by the student, parent/carer and subject counsellor at a course counselling interview.
Subject selection interviews will be held during week 8 of Term 3 on Wednesday 8/9 and Thursday 9/9. If you are unable to attend book in for a phone link up.
Thank you for reading the attached information booklet and using the support documents to help inform and simplify the selection process.
