PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Hello Swan Reach,
Term 3 is back on-track and progressing well as we re-embed ourselves in teaching and learning routines – our core business. SRAS is amazed and thankful for the resilience shown by families, students, and staff to collectively and collaboratively encourage, engage, support and provide safe and on-going learning for ALL students.
So often, it is through adversity that our inner strength, resolve and courage shines the brightest. “Our way is not soft grass, it’s a mountain path with lots of rocks. But it goes upward, forward, towards the sun.” Ruth Westheimer. Let’s hope that like the seasons - as the colder, darker winter begins to fade into warmer and sunnier spring – that this COVID-19 test we face together, enhances and strengthens our care for one another and our community.
COVID-19 UPDATE
The Department for Education continues to adhere to and apply advice from SA Health. They are keeping a watchful vigil on the state of COVID-19 in neighbouring states and keeping sites updated as needed. As we have experienced, the COVID-19 pandemic is unpredictable and changes quickly. It’s important we remain well prepared.
School and preschool staff must:
- Have the most up-to-date contact details (including phone number) for all parents/carers so they can be quickly contacted in the event of a lockdown, temporary closure or regional closure
- Be prepared to transfer to remote learning at short notice
SRAS will continue to facilitate the recently re-opened services:
- Playgroup
- Occasional Care
- Parent Child Mother Goose (PCMG)
- Community Library – after school hours OR pre-arranged pick up and drop off
- Assemblies
- Intra state excursions
- School and inter-school sports
- Volunteers - Reading
SRAS is thankful to the adherence and application of community members in maintaining our COVID-19 free environment. Thank you for continuing to follow the advice below given by Chief Public Health Officer Nicola Spurrier, based on the current COVID-19 risk level in South Australia:
- Parents / Carers and adult visitors onsite (eg Playgroup, PCMG, meetings, volunteers) must QR check in and wear a mask
- Community members accessing the library after hours must QR check in and wear a mask
- All adults onsite need to continue adhering to social distancing and hygiene practices – using sanitiser and covering coughs and sneezes
- If unwell, thank you for staying home. If you have symptoms of COVID-19, cold or flu, no matter how mild – this applies to staff, students, parents, carers and volunteers (ALL)

The parent / carer survey is a great opportunity to get valuable insights into parent engagement at your schools.
So far, across South Australia there are over 16,000 responses to the survey - however, only 4 from SRAS.
SRAS encourages parents to participate in the survey, using the unique link that has been emailed or texted to them directly.
If families can't find the link it is provided below:
https://educationsa.syd1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_8oi3YL6pkNAPlf8?RID=CGC_kf0fFWka5o1rdv1&Q_CHL=email
Responses received via this link will be connected to SRAS, but not provide further demographic information and parents / carers will continue to receive DfE set reminders.
Thank you for taking the time as the information assists SRAS improvement.
On Friday 27th August 2021, students will be involved in class activities to celebrate Book Week. This year's theme is Old Worlds, New Worlds and Other Worlds. Students are invited to dress up for the festivity.
The SRC will be holding a Father's Day Stall on Fridays at lunchtime of Weeks 5,6 & 7. Students will be able to purchase gifts for Father's Day during this time.
During this term students have been working on basic construction projects as part of required modules in Certificate I in Building Construction. This has included steel framework and iron cladding for the BBQ shed at the Mindarie-Halidon Race Track.
