PRINCIPALS REPORT
Hello Swan Reach,
What an odd start to our schooling term – far from ideal! SRAS highly appreciated the support from families throughout the remote learning period and the speedy transition back to face-to-face learning. Whilst COVID-19 restrictions are set to ease again this week, schools and preschools are advised to continue to limit adults on sites. Thank you for your understanding and working with us while these safety precautions remain in place.
COVID-19
SRAS continues to act on the advice of SA medical experts and the Department for Education. Whilst the state has recently received some light easing of some restrictions, we understand that much can change quickly, however we have a quick update for families listed below:
Masks remain compulsory in secondary settings for students
- Playgroup, Occasional Care and Parent Child Mother Goose will re-open next week
- Incursions, such as ‘Footsteps’, excursions and intrastate camps are permitted
- We request that parents and carers remain off-site unless essential
- Volunteers are to remain off-site
- Library remains shut to community members during school hours – QR check in and masks needed after school hours
- Ongoing high personal hygiene for staff and students
- additional cleaning remains in place
- Social distancing and mask wearing compulsory for staff and adults
- All adults (including staff) must COVID-Safe check in
Kind regards
Mr John Robertson
PARENT SURVEY
Your feedback is IMPORTANT. SRAS strongly encourages parents and carers to complete the annual ‘parent / carer engagement survey.’ It is a voluntary survey for parents and carers and aims to gauge the level of parent engagement with SRAS. The survey occurs annually in term 3 of the school year. It is centrally coordinated to avoid adding administrative workload on schools.
Parents and carers will be sent individual survey links by the Department for Education (DfE). This will allow DfE to keep track of responses and send reminder emails to families who have not yet completed the survey.
The survey measures the level of engagement parents have with their child’s school. The survey asks families about how they perceive their child’s school, including how well the school:
- supports their child’s learning and wellbeing
- communicates with students and families
Survey results will help us understand:
- what we are doing well
- where we can improve
- what’s important to parents and carers
The survey will be open for 4 weeks, from Monday 2 August to Sunday 29 August. It takes less than 10 minutes to complete. Personal information and the identity of participants (and children) will remain anonymous. SRAS will use the survey results to inform school improvement planning and to report on parent opinions in our annual report. Your voice matters. The more families completing the survey will provide us with a bigger picture of community needs and assist us to improve SRAS for all.
